What is ECDL
The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL – European Computer Driving Licence) is the most popular computer skills certification program recognized internationally in over 148 countries.
The licence owner is provided with a standard base of IT knowledge required by the new continuously developing information society. The ECDL is valid for an unlimited period of time.
New ECDL certifications
ECDL provides the following certifications: ECDL START, ECDL STANDARD, ECDL AVANSAT, ECDL PROFIL.

The certificationECDL START can be obtained after going through 4 fixed modules that cover key IT competence and knowledge areas: computers use, text editing, online tools, spreadsheet calculation.
ECDL STANDARD is the certification that includes7 ECDL modules consisting of the four ECDL modules Start plus and three additional modules chosen by the trainees, in order to develop and certify digital competence. The three additional modules can be chosen from the following ECDL Standard modules: Presentations, Databases, IT Security, Web Editing, Image Editing, 2D CAD.
ECDL AVANSAT provides the knowledge required at a superior level when using specific applications. These are: Advanced text editing, Advanced spreadsheet calculation, Advanced databases, Advanced presentations. Passing any of these modules grants one ECDL Avansat certification. The ECDL EXPERT certification is obtained after having graduated any 3 ECDL AVANSAT modules.
The certificationECDL PROFIL is obtained after having graduated a module or a specific module group, in accordance with individual needs. The ECDL profile does not expire and can be continuously developed during the whole lifetime.
The certificationECDL PROFIL DIDACTIC can be obtained after having graduated 6 fixed modules: Computer use, Online tools, Text editing, Spreadsheet calculation, Databases, Presentations. According to the Order no. 3881/11.06.2013 regarding the equivalence of a number of transferable credits, teachers from pre-university education institutions can obtain 25 transferable professional credits.
The licenceECDL PROFIL START BAC can be obtained after having graduated 4 fixed mandatory modules: Computer use, Online tools, Text editing, Spreadsheet calculation.
The licence ECDL PROFIL BACcan be obtained after having graduated 6 fixed mandatory modules: Computer use, Online tools, Text editing, Spreadsheet calculation, Databases, Presentations.
Pupils who obtain the ECDL Licence actually obtain an equivalent of their Digital Competences exam from the national Baccalaureate exam.
The digital competence level on their baccalaureate degree shall be:
- „average user”, for candidates who have obtained the ECDL Profil Start Bac Licence;
- „experienced user”, for candidates who have obtained the ECDL Profil Bac Licence;
Training courses for obtaining ECDL certifications
The specific training for the ECDL certificationsare aimed for computer users who possess basic computer working knowledge, a minimum level consisting in knowledge about file and folder management as well as Word document editing.
In our training courses for ECDL certification we offer:
- training adjusted to each certification level and each target group: pupils, civil servants, company employees.
- a customized „fast-track” training program for pupils who aim to obtain the ECDL PROFIL BAC licence and use it as an equivalent for the Digital Competences exam from the national Baccalaureate exam;
- an interactive way to hold trainings so that notions can be acquired in a fast and durable manner;
- training rooms equipped with computer networks at international standards;
- training support and practical activities for each participant;
- test simulations in order to verify their knowledge before the exam.
