The rise of Internet of Things has a direct impact on today’s technology and ultimately on our day-to-day life. We discuss about smart cities, home automation, pollution control, smart medicine, or Industry 4.0. All these paradigms imply a variety of devices that communicate with one another through specialized communication networks.

Eta2U developed LoRaTIM, a long range, low power, communication network covering Timisoara county that allow conform devices to connect to Internet of Things universe.

LoRaTIM implements LoRaWAN™ protocol, allowing devices to communicate to distances ranging to more than 10km, while consuming a very low amount of energy, such a device being able to function up to 10 years with the included battery.

The primary objective of the project is to provide a technology hub for local developer community, to experiment and build IoT solutions.

One of the projects that rely on LoRaTIM infrastructure is monitoring the air quality in Timisoara city.
