Implementation of Datacenter infrastructure services for Cloud Services: DAVA Oradea

Dava R&R Oradea is the beneficiary of an EU-funded project aiming to provide Datacenter services to Transylvania-based companies. The contract budget exceeded RON 800,000 and covered the arrangement and refurbishment of a specific area for Cloud Services. ETA2U won the bid and, along with a team of datacenter design and deployment specialists, identified the best solutions to secure operational conditions above standards while continuing to be commercially-competitive on a market converging to as high and cost-effective an SLA as possible.

The activities performed to execute project requirements included:

  • Space fit-out according to Tier3 standards (fire-fighting system, redundant power supply, generator unit, redundant ISP connections, etc.)
  • Execution of communications infrastructure: both systems using BGP protocol to administer connections and firewalls for data transfer security.
  • Implementation of computing and storage virtualization platform. Setup and testing of VMware cluster accommodating workloads in the cloud environment, and achieving host and storage redundancy
  • Implementation of file backup and archiving system.

The virtual infrastructure implementation was conceived as a modular project enabling capacity enhancement according to resource development + customer rental. The scalability of the solution derives, on one hand, from the improved performance of networking systems – capable of coping with hosting-related traffic peaks, and on the other hand from the flexibility of the computing and storage infrastructure whereby processing, memory and storage resources may be supplemented ‘on the fly’.

All systems above were completed by a physical security system consisting in one anti-burglary system, one access control system and one video surveillance system.

Clouding gradually got fans in Romania too. This wager placed by the Oradea-based company Dava R&R was doubled by ETA2U’s professional expertise in cloud deployment and by contributions from technology providers such as Dell, Juniper, NetApp, and Fortinet, in the hope of winning.
