Data-voice networks also known as structured cabling represent multiple standards that define how the cables that form a network in an industrial, residential or office building are disposed.

The distribution point is usually placed in a position in the building as centrally as possible, to ensure the most efficient distribution of cables.

Based on how a network is built, we can list the main components, without being exhaustive:

  • Cable – is the part that ensures data transport
  • Sockets – they provide users with physical access to the network
  • Racks – are in fact distribution arrays or cable concentrators
  • Patch panels – these are rack mounted components where the cables from the sockets are connected
