- IT Congress 2014 – the most important multi-brand IT event organized in Romania
Each year, the IT Congress event organized by ETA2U reunites over 1000 IT professionals, representing over 600 companies. It is an event dedicated to IT professional, whose purpose is the dissemination of latest news in high-level IT technologies.
Starting from 2009, when the first edition took place, during the two days of the event, IT specialists from all over the country have the opportunity to discuss with representatives of famous international brands, continuous partners of ETA2U, such as: Dell, Microsoft, Oracle, Advantech, APC, CISCO, HP, EMC, Intel, IBM, Juniper, Lenovo, McAfee, Samsung, Symantec, Veeam, VMware, Xerox.
Presentations of high-tech, state-of-the-art IT technologies and solutions are taking place in parallel, workshops and real-time demo’s.
At the same time, visitors of the exhibition can discover and test newly launched products or services.
- At the end of the year 2013 ETA2U has finalized, at TMD Friction Romania, a secondary datacentre in Caransebes.
This datacentre is connected through a fibre optic ring to the existing datacentre. The virtualized environment with critical systems is replicated based on a program between the two datacentres. Any unwanted event that might totally disable any of the datacentres implies the activation of the services from the other datacentre in maximum 30 minutes, thus re-establishing the normal production flows. The data backup/archiving concept has also been extending by implementing a Disk-to-Disk-to-Tape structure. As a result of this project, TMD Friction Romania has ensured Business Continuity through a high level of availability of the IT system.
- In October 2012 ETA2U was selected for the 7th consecutive time as partner in the implementation of the Biblionet project of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
ETA2U was selected as supplier of International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX Romania) within the BIBLIONET program since its beginning in 2009. Under the patronage of „The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation”, Biblionet is a 5-year program that facilitates free access to information for Romanians, by developing a system of modern public libraries in Romania.
ETA2U is the partner that supplies, configures and installs IT equipment and technology in the libraries that have applied to the Biblionet program. At the end of the project, the total number of libraries to have benefited from equipment delivered by ETA2U is of over 1500, and the total number of the equipment is of over 65.000 units, out of which 7.500 are HUSKTech desktop PC’s (ETA2U’s registered trade mark), laptops, printers, scanners, projectors and UPS’s.
Most libraries are situated in rural localities. The satisfaction of our partner IREX is obvious and was confirmed by our collaboration on its 7th stage of implementation. The total value of the seven projects is of over 6.6 million USD.
- In March 2011 ETA2U has signed the contract with the West University of Timisoara for the installation of the first Supercomputer IBM BlueGene/P from
Romania.
This is the only Supercomputer of this size from Romania and one of the three that exist in Central and Eastern Europe. The computing power of 13.9 Terra Flops is provided by 1024 processors with 4096 cores and 4 TB of RAM connected in 32 I/O nodes. IBM BlueGene/P enables partnership research projects in domains such as complex simulations in chemistry, physics, biology, biotechnology, research in sustainable energy and hazard assessment. The fact that the West University in Timisoara has such a computer has helped it win European projects, since the use of IBM BlueGene/P provides new research opportunities.
